PLEASE...keep an eye on the news and weather this week. If your child is normally an ASP student, please make sure that I know how to send them home in the event we are released early due to weather. If school is released early due to weather, ASP will not be open.

I was super excited to read this!
Update from Remind: Friday, January 25
We’re thrilled to share the news: Thanks to you, we can continue to offer text notifications as part of the free Remind service. Verizon has informed us that there will be no change to the fee structure Remind pays for text messaging, and there will be no service disruption for Verizon Wireless customers.
While we don’t yet have a long-term agreement with Verizon, we understand how important texting is for your classrooms and communities—and that’s why we’re choosing to trust Verizon’s public commitment to waive the fee for Remind.

Learning objectives this week...
Unit of Inquiry Theme: HOW THE WORLD WORKS (An inquiry into the interaction between the natural world (physical, biological and human societies)
  • We will begin learning about the structure of narrative writing.
  • We will continue our literary book study on the book Wonder. We will study  how we can compare similar themes and topics across texts. Assessment Friday. Please remember that students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes daily.
    • We are in full swing of adding boos to our "Shelfie". Please encourage your child to participate, so that they can take part in our book celebration at the end of the quarter.
    • Six Flags Reading logs are due Feb 11th.
  • In math we will are reviewing our learning of how to divide multi-digit numbers. Please remember that the methods they will be learning at school, may look different from the methods we learned as students. Although I always encourage support at home, please remember that teaching them the standard algorithm for division may confuse them and they will be assessed on the methods they are being taught at school. Students still need to focus on multiplication. It is important that students are fluent with facts. Please have them practice at home. We will be beginning our unit on measurement this week as well.
  • We will begin our learning of light and sound with some fun rotations this week.
