I hope that everyone had a great break!

Tuesday is our field trip to the Atlanta History Museum.

Learning objectives this week...
Unit of Inquiry Theme: Where we are in Time and Space (an inquiry into the relationships and the interconnectedness of civilizations)
  • We will continue learning about the structure of opinion writing.
  • We will continue our literary learning with a book study on the book Tiger Rising. We will start by learning how to "read characters" by what they say and do. Please remember that students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes daily.
  • In math we will be learning how to find the area of rectangular shapes and unknown variables using the area formula for area. We are still focusing a lot on multiplication, so it is important that students are fluent with facts. Please have them practice at home. We are going strong with our incentive program. It is called Multiplication Sundae. With each group of facts that they memorize, they will earn a part of an ice cream sundae. By our holiday break in December, we will have a sundae social and they will be able to redeem what they have earned.
  • We will begin learning about westward expansion in our IB unit and the technology that settlers used as they moved west during the time of the California Gold Rush.
Upcoming Events:
  • Tuesday Nov 2
7- Field trip to Atlanta History Center
