We
are excited to host The Giving Market again this year. It is a fun
holiday market with high-quality gifts that EVERY student gets to experience. The
goal of Giving Market is to inspire students to live with generosity.
WHAT
IS THE GIVING MARKET?
●
Promotes Generosity – Every student is included and gets one Giving Dollar to spend
on gifts for others. Each gift comes with a personalized note.
●
High-Quality Gifts - Our handpicked, meaningful gifts make families actually proud
to give and receive. With just $20 students can purchase gifts for everyone on
their list. All gifts are under $10 and several have a giveback component.
●
Fun Holiday Experience - With the Giving Market Challenge of the Day, students will
spread holiday cheer through spontaneous singing and random acts of kindness.
●
Students will take home a Student Giving Guide and a Giving
Envelope on Wednesday, 12/5. This
helps parent and students pick out gifts for family and friends, and
budget the correct amount of money for students to bring in on our class shopping day. (Shopping day/time TBA)
Volunteers are needed to help run the Giving Market. Please see link below to help!

- We will continue our literary learning with a book study on the book Tiger Rising. We will study the impacts of the setting and events and how the effect characters. Please remember that students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes daily. Assessment Thursday.
- In math we will continue to learn how to find the area of rectangular shapes and unknown variables using the area formula for area. It is called Multiplication Sundae. With each group of facts that they memorize, they will earn a part of an ice cream sundae. By our holiday break in December, we will have a sundae social and they will be able to redeem what they have earned.
- We will begin learning about westward expansion, the Louisiana Purchase and the War of 1812, in our IB unit and the technology (simple machines) that settlers used as they moved west during this time.
