About Red Ribbon Week:
Red Ribbon Week is a time for us to focus on healthy behaviors and drug and bully free choices.   The theme is “Life is your Journey-Travel Drug Free”

Red Ribbon week was started all across the United States in 1985 in honor of a United States drug enforcement officer who was harmed by people who sold drugs.  People started wearing and displaying red ribbons to show support for the fight against drugs. This month, October, is also National Bullying Prevention Month.

This week we will have special fun theme days each day to show our support and remind us of the fight against bullying and drugs as well as our decision to make healthy choices.
****Remember, You still have to wear standard school attire bottoms  (except for career dress up day)!!
MONDAY-“Red Ribbon Day”-Wear a Red Shirt and get your Red Ribbon
TUESDAY-“Put a sock on Bad Choices”-Wear crazy or mismatched socks.
WEDNESDAY- “I can be anything when I am drug and bully free-My Dream Career Day”-Dress up as a career you want to be when you grow up.
THURSDAY- “Teasley Elementary School is PAWsitively Drug and Bully Free”-Wear Teasley Spirit wear.
FRIDAY- “Team up against Bullying and Drugs”-Wear a team jersey or shirt.

Learning objectives this week...

Unit of Inquiry Theme: How We Organize Ourselves: The structure and function of systems and organizations and their impact on the economy, the environment and human-kind.

  • We will finish publishing our research about ecosystems and the roles that various plants and organisms play within them.  Please remember that students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes daily.
  • We will be learning this week how to identify firsthand and secondhand accounts of the same events. We will assess our learning on Friday.
  • We will also be learning how to use pronouns in our writing.
  • In math we will assess our learning of finding elapsed time and multiplicative comparison on Monday. We will continue learning about factors and prime & composite numbers. The 2nd quarter focuses a lot on multiplication, so it is important that students are fluent with facts. Please have them practice at home.
  • We will also be learning more about life after the American Revolution and how the founders had to reflect in order to make compromise.
